Morning Disaster – Philadelphia 3.26.2010

I woke up at 5am and made my way towards the city. On my way in I picked up my friend Pete. We planned on capturing the city at first light and instead we found ourselves minutes away from disaster.  I parked right off the Benjamin Franklin Parkway at about 7am Thursday morning. We left Eakins oval area and headed up to the art museum when only minutes later we hear a loud bang. We instantly saw smoke rising up from the circle and rushed over to see a truck engulfed in flames. A woman had a seizure while driving and slammed the pedal into a tree. Police pulled the unconscious woman from the wreckage as the truck emitted thick smoke from the engine area.  The Philadelphia Inquirer were thinking about running the story but decided there was too many other stories going on and a car crash didn’t rank high on the list. Here are a few shots from Wednesday morning.
